Artist Biography
Steers says of her first print project: “When Bud approached me about creating a flipbook from my collages it was a compelling opportunity. Both Before the Fall and After the Beds are metaphorical recollections based on memories of pivotal experiences. The original handmade artwork incorporates the figures from Eadweard Muybridge’s Human and Animal Locomotion, first published in 1887”. The double sided flipbook consists of 48 two sided pages with cover. The pages were hand printed on Magnani soft white paper, cut and bound. Stacey Steers is on the faculty of the Film Studies Program at the University of Colorado.
Her animated films have been screened at The Sundance Film Festival, “New Directors/New Films” (The Museum of Modern Art and The Film Society of Lincoln Center), and numerous other festivals worldwide, and have won national and international awards. She is the recipient of a major grant from The American Film Institute, and has been awarded residencies at Harvard University, The MacDowell Colony, and The Sacatar Foundation.
