Artist Biography
Born in 1933, San Juan, Puerto Rico : Lives in Greenport, New York.
Using hot colors and deep shadows, Ferrer infuses magic and mystery into his subjects—a boat on the shoreline, a fruit-seller on the beach, or the sea at sunset are at once physical scenes and psychological spaces. His strong sense of line and color illuminates the intense life of the Caribbean. In Ferrer’s prints, lush growth is restrained by carefully preserved white space. One feels both bright, sea-soaked rhythms and blinding heat.
